Countdown Timer?

18 posts in this topic

I know with all the news of GTA 5 coming about, and the release less than a month away, which we are all eagerly anticipating. I thought it might be nice to maybe "install" a countdown timer into the site for events such as this. I found a format for phpbb's that may work if Alex would like: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtop ... &t=2101439

It doesn't seem like it would be too hard to implement, and it could be used for more than just one thing.

I just think the first timer up should in fact be, GTA 5. Is anyone with me on this?

We could have one for BF4 as well. And for DayZ SA, maybe a countdown timer where the clock spins backwards?

We could definitely probably put multiples up if Alex or someone is willing to do it. I know Kenny and I are infinitely looking forward to GTA, and ALL OF US are looking forward to BF4. This could be a handy little gadget.

GTA 5 looks sick, but I'm gonna wait for the PC version, I don't want to buy it twice, and I'm gonna be dirt poor pretty soon.

Ahh, yes that method has been verified to work for any xbox or play station game. It's currently the only way to emulate at the moment.

lol never heard a more accurate statement. anticipating dayz standalone is like getting into an H.G Wells time machine.

Would not work.

Correct link: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/count_down/

Last update from them: "The MOD is not compatibility with phpbb 3.0.9."

We are on version 3.0.11. Which means it would still not be compatible. If you can find one that works with 3.0.11 then I will check it out.

wait... why would we have to insert a mod for it to work... couldn't we just have it display time based off a counter, but have the digits show backwards from whatever amount of time we want? Or a stopwatch that runs down?

http://www.phpbb3bbcodes.com/viewtopic. ... &mobile=on

Else, what about adding a clock to the header with PHP? Something like:

<?php

$target = mktime(0, 0, 0, 2, 10, 2007) ;

$today = time () ;

$difference =($target-$today) ;

$days =(int) ($difference/86400) ;

print "Our event will occur in $days days";

?>
